Seventy-one percent of the Earth: water. Ninety-s Seventy-one percent of the Earth: water.

Ninety-seven percent: salt.

Three percent: fresh.

Most held in ice
or underground.

Less than one percent accessible.

Water is polar.
It dissolves more materials
than any other liquid.

All known life depends on it.

Life began in water.

The human body: about sixty percent.

The brain: about seventy-five.

Weeks without food.

Only days without water.

More than two billion people
lack safely managed drinking water.

Women and girls spend
two hundred million hours each day
collecting water.

One liter: one kilogram.

Five gallons: over forty pounds.

By 2050,
water scarcity increases.

Glaciers melting.

Rivers no longer reach the sea.

Groundwater depleted
faster than it returns.

Water shapes land.

Carries sediment.

Erodes.

Evaporates into air.

Returns, eventually.

The body carries water.

The body loses water.

The body requires water.

Water is the source.

a new dance work by Amelia Rudolph

WATER MOVES is an intimate, multimedia dance experience exploring water as element, resource, and life force. Centered on the body as a vessel, the work uses movement, experimental rigging, projection, sculpture, and sound, to explore how we are moved by the aqueous forces that sustain us. This work started as a collaboration between @juan_leiba and me. We worked together in Madrid on SOURCE WATER starting in 2022, a piece which has now been incorporated as a part of this show. With Juan’s blessing, I’ve expanded upon that research to create this new work. I can’t wait to share it with you!
